r2k @ Scan & Nvidia Gaming Tournament
On the 1st of June was the Scan & Nvidia event up at the main headquarters of Scan Computers in Bolton, just by the Bolton Wanderers Football Club. Myself, ODEE and MrDogbert all met up a day before in Bolton to get the Scan systems up and running in the Scan HQ.
We had to setup Counter-Strike: Global Offensive up on the systems for this event, it ain't easy setting up a game that we rarely play but with the help of Multiplay that day it was finally up and running and we also sorted a lot of stuff with the Scan guys that day too, ready for tomorrow. We all went up for food near our hotel and our CS:GO player Steel also came up to help out with the tournament.
I'm helping set up the computers while ODEE shows some vendors what we do.
Next day, all ready, all full up from breakfast and ready to go for the Scan Event. As we got there before half 9 in the morning, we saw some people at the door, already eager to get inside and get gaming. It was a 10 o'clock start for the event and by then a massive queue was already lining up outside and once 10 o'clock hit, they all came through the doors. I did feel very squished at times as there was so many people there.
I was given the mic to do the announcement and a bit of commentating of the CS:GO tournament. It was setup as a deathmatch tournament, 12 players on at a time and we needed 12 people in the finals later on in the day. We had 12 qualifiers to the Finals and only 1 from each qualifier could get there. Top 7 would get prizes. Now to be honest I didn't think we would have enough of the public to fill them but the customers of Scan amazed me once more.
The amount of people that we had to play was like over 120+ customers, probably the best event at Scan that I've helped with. The games were quite good to watch, its always good to see players who don't play at a competitive level get a chance here to show what they got. We had one 2-way tie and one 3-way tie during the qualifiers, the customers were well excited with these games.
Packed store at Scan Computers for the CS:GO Tournament.
Also during the CS:GO tournament we also had a GRID 2 tournament on the COBRA screen, a massive oval screen with a projector in the top, that was such an awesome setup. Fastest 3 times wins prizes. Also we had presentations from the main sponsor of the day, Nvidia who showed for the first time in the UK, the Nvidia Shield. A Handheld Android gaming device that can stream PC games onto the device and play aswell. One of the best inventions I believe which can hurt the likes of Sony and Nintendo. Some other vendors were there like EVGA, Creative, Corsair, MSI. It was a packed day for sure.

Some of the customers trying out the Nvidia Shield, first time in the UK, awesome bit of kit.
We got to the finals of the CS:GO tournament, 12 players made it but only 11 showed up. One player went home early, I know who it was and already had a go at him when I was going home, he wasn't happy haha. So one spot to fill and we had to find some, Steel actually volunteered to be the 12th guy, we said it was fine and that he couldn't win any prizes which was cool. We also had the finals in the presentation area which had a big projector screen and speakers so all the customers in the building could sit and watch a great final, also the finals was streamed over the internet live on the Scan webcast which was going on throughout the day.
It was such an intense final and actually our CS:GO Steel player was given a run for his money during the tournament, mind you he did have to play with no sound and also admin at the same time. The finals was done and we sort of had our top 7 winners..... well basically 2 players tied 5th, so we got them to do a best of 3 knife round. Once that was sorted I did the presentations with one of the heads of Scan Computers. I thanked the customers, staff, vendors and sponsors alot because without those people, the event would of not been a huge success. After all that I went with MrDogbert and a few of our friends down to Nandos to have a well deserved meal.

Overall for me this event was awesome and will be very hard to top, but not impossible. Its these sort of events that drive myself and Team Dignitas to do what we do best. There are a lot more coming aswell so Bolton better be prepared. Big shoutouts to ODEE, Steel, MrDogbert and the rest of the team, also to the staff members and our sponsors Scan Computers for hosting a great event and to all the vendors that were there, was really well done. Catch you at another event!
